Merck New Investigator Award/United States

The purpose of the Merck New Investigator Award is to encourage
young investigators to undertake or continue hypertension research
and participate in the conference. The award permits a young
investigator to travel to the annual meeting and to present
research orally or in poster format and to engage in discussion
with senior investigators. The candidates are young investigators
(MD or PhD), fellows in training, and academicians who hold
an academic rank no higher than that of instructor at the time
of submission of an abstract (
Figure 1).

New Investigator Travel Award for Japanese Fellows (Supported by an Educational Grant From Pfizer)

The purpose of this award is to encourage new investigators
from Japan to undertake or continue hypertension research and
to participate in the Annual High Blood Pressure Research Conference.
The award is presented to no more than 5 qualified new investigators
from Japan who present papers at the annual fall conference
(
Figure 2).

This New Investigator Award is presented to no more than 5 qualified
new investigators from Europe who present abstracts at the Annual
High Blood Pressure Research Conference. The purpose of this
award is to encourage new investigators from Europe to undertake
or continue hypertension research and to participate in the
conference (
Figure 3).

Annual High Blood Pressure Research Conference Travel Awards (Sponsored by the Council for High Blood Pressure Research)

These awards honor and provide travel assistance for new and
emerging investigators at the trainee level (graduate students,
postdoctoral fellows) and junior faculty level (instructor,
assistant professor) who attend the American Heart Associations
Annual High Blood Pressure Research Conference to present abstracts.
The award is presented to up to 10 new investigators who present
abstracts at the Annual High Blood Pressure Research Conference
(
Figure 4).

Kidney Council New Investigator Travel Award

Young investigators from the Kidney Council are invited to participate
in the general area of hypertension at the Annual High Blood
Pressure Research Conference. The program is in association
with the Council on the Kidney in Cardiovascular Disease. The
New Investigator Travel Award is presented to qualified new
investigators who have an abstract for presentation at the conference.
The goal is to encourage council members and their collaborators
to get more involved in the annual conference (
Figure 5).
