In the article "Effect of Valsartan on Angiotensin IIInduced Plasminogen Activator Inhibitor-1 Biosynthesis in Arterial Smooth Muscle Cells" by Sironi et al (Hypertension. 2001;37:961966), the legend for Figure 1 contained an error. The sentence "A and B, Each bar represents the mean±SEM of at least 6 independent experiments performed in duplicate (**P<0.01 vs vehicle-treated rats)." should read as follows: "A and B, Each bar represents the mean±SEM of at least 6 independent experiments performed in duplicate (**P<0.01 vs vehicle-treated cells)." In addition, the correct affiliations for Elena Tremoli are the Departments of Cardiac Surgery and Pharmacological Sciences, Centro Cardiologico Monzino IRCCS, University of Milan, Italy. Alessandro Parolari is affiliated with the Department of Cardiac Surgery, Centro Cardiologico Monzino IRCSS, University of Milan.
In the article "Diabetes, Hypertension, and Cardiovascular Disease: An Update" by Sowers et al (Hypertension. 2001;37:10531059), the acronym STOP was incorrectly expanded as "Shunt Thrombotic Occlusion Prevention by Picotamide." The correct expansion for STOP is "Swedish Trial in Older Persons."
In the February 2001 supplement (Hypertension. 2001;37[part 2]:815817), the winners of the Novartis Award for Hypertension Research 2000 were incorrectly identified. Properly identified photographs of these winners are given below. The publisher regrets the error.
