These special proceedings from the 58th Annual Meeting of the American Heart Association Council for High Blood Pressure contain 29 of the best manuscripts of the 102 submitted. Actually, the majority of the manuscripts submitted were excellent; due to space limitations, those that needed major revisions could not be accepted. However, we anticipate seeing these manuscripts in the regular issues of the journal. The conference included 336 abstracts, 86 of which were selected for oral presentation.

As of last year, the electronic submission system was efficient and ran smoothly. Authors were given 2 extra weeks to submit their manuscripts. Overall, it is hoped that the additional time resulted in a nonrushed and more flawless communication. The Publication Committee, consisting of myself; Italo Biaggioni, MD, FAHA; Daniel F. Catan zaro, PhD, FAHA; Anna F. Dominiczak, MD, FAHA; Toshiro Fujita, MD, FAHA; Carmen Hinojosa-Laborde, PhD, FAHA; Edward W. Inscho, PhD, FAHA; Margot C. Lapointe, PhD, FAHA; Addison A. Taylor, MD, PhD, FAHA; Stephanie W. Watts, PhD; Michael Wyss, PhD, FAHA; George W. Booz, PhD; and Alan Y. Deng, PhD, FAHA; handled most of the manuscripts. The final decision was made by myself with the assistance of the Hypertension editor and associate editors, namely, Celso E. Gomez-Sanchez, MD; Joey P. Granger, PhD; Friedrich C. Luft, MD; Ernesto L.
